She's giving the sort of look one would only have at someone they know, so being as, so far as my definition of "lucky" goes, "being invited on a date to the beach with a drop-dead gorgeous woman" counts, he's already lucky.

    Pretty sure that's Cheer-chan.

That's what I was thinking. Probably didn't want to get caught with her childhood friend by the cameras since you can see a foot on the far right running away.

The scrunchie of sunglasses girl matches cheer-chan's from previous panels.

The reporter was the same one with the one doing the astronomically-high rating weather report, aka Weather-chan.

Ah, guys? Himura's second tweet about this strip apparently gives an official name for the reporter girl (女子アナさん, or Joshi Ana-san; アナ is short for アナウンサー Anaunsaa, i.e. "Announcer"), and actually points out that this is her third appearance (first one is post #2701714, second one is on the TV screen in post #2789686).

    So... announcer-san?

Why not Joushi_Ana-san? Characters like Cheer-chan are named such because she's actually called "ちあ" in the comic at one point, but we generally keep things Japanese otherwise.

First, it's "joshi", not "joushi". Second, the word you're adding only means "woman, female". Third, we have trainer-san (tawawa) for the gym trainer lady; if we going to have to add "female" to Announcer-san, then we should do the same to Trainer-san.

... D'OH, I forgot to add "(tawawa)" to the name! Here, announcer-san_(tawawa).

EDIT: And I just realized that we forgot to add "(tawawa)" to Kakyou-san's tag, like we have done with literally every other Tawawaverse character.

@NWSiaCB? Do you have anything to say about the announcer girl's name choice, or am I free to tag her as announcer-san_(tawawa)?

@MarqFJA87 I would still say that, according to the naming guidelines, you should name the character as they appear in the original source wherever possible.

Well, it's not like we have any sort of solid confirmation what Kakyou-san's name is, just that Himura Kiseki referred to her sometimes as 講義アシスタント and sometimes as 家庭教師, with no clear indication which is her official moniker; we simply derived a provisional name from one of those two for convenience while we await the author to settle on a specific name.

Likewise, it's all too possible that Himura calling the announcer girl "Joshi Ana-san" is merely using a descriptive appellation rather than giving her an actual name. It's compounded by the fact that she has so far only had three appearances, and originally he called her "Newcomer Weathergirl" (新人お天気おねえさん).

The TL;DR version: I believe this case falls under the "No name!" section of the naming guidelines you linked to.

For the record, part of the reason I don't want to name the announcer girl "Ana-san" is because "ana" can also mean "hole"... which to me brings the unfortunate implication of referring to such words as "ketsu no ana" (literally "asshole", as in "anus"). It can also mean "deficit", "flaw", and "underbelly (of society, etc.)", all of which have negative connotations. She deserves better than that, IMO.

... And suddenly, I realize there was another joke in Gintama I didn't see even though it was right in front of me...

On a different note, does the rear side of Announcer-san's hair look like it qualifies for hair bun? See post #2701714 for reference.
