according to a gamepedia thread, you can reasonably see a +10 unit for 750+ orbs. of course if your luck is bad you could be dumping way more money than that.
from my personal experience pulling banners, 120 orbs is about the time i actually get the pull for a single unit with sniping.

It depends on what kind of banner it is. It takes something like 400 orbs for the "b8%" legendary banner scams.
Beyond that, this last seasonal, I've dumped in 300 orbs, and gotten 4 pity breakers, including a freakin' GRAY for my trouble. Why is that useless sack of crap even 5* at all?! Did they feel the need for another Merric?
That said, I finally did get my first OG!Lyn, and a spare Celica of both flavors. (Trying for Tiki, obviously...)
