    Crazy thing is, the Torch Lady (as the Columbia mascot is called) used to have an American flag wrapped around her until about the 1940s or so. Which makes this rather appropriate.

    The Statue of Liberty, which was one of the mascot's bases is also a gift from the masonic French who believed in the trinitarian truths (liberte, egalite, fraternite), whose main symbol is suspected by many to originate from Hecate.
