Truth. Anyone who has ever worn this uniform knows the only place it works is on your grandmother's sofa... There is actual photographic evidence to support that claim.

In my experience, it only works when it's so dirty that the bright luminescent coloring fades out and is covered in dust/dirt. Other than that, it's flat out horrible damn near everywhere (except in snowy forest, it's actually pretty legit there). During official Army testing the UCP pattern ranked the lowest of all tested patterns and was not recommended for military use... This is highly documented. In fact, the uniform performed so poorly in Afghanistan the Joint Forces agreed to make Multicam the uniform of choice for all forces assigned to Afghanistan regardless of service affiliation.

During original testing, the recommended uniform from official testing was the OCP, which over a decade later, the Army and now also Air Force are transitioning to. The only reason the UCP was ever used despite being the lowest rated was because someone had business connections. Sad after so many died, the Army finally came back to the uniform that had won in testing and had been recommended from the very start.

You touched on a good point, no matter how good or bad a pattern, the best camouflage is staying still. I don't care what pattern you wear, movement is always seen. Camouflage only truly works when you are still. But still, UCP is quite possibly the worst pattern the US military has ever fielded. Obviously nothing will work everywhere, but the UCP failed in nearly every environment.
