Maybe that's why Akagi went in alone: She sent the others to safe the commander, while she herself wanted to save Shoukaku/the US fleet girls.

But, that kindness was her enemy.The Commander is a marvelous person. But, she was thickheaded.And she should have known that malice isn't the only reason why people fight.If everything can go well with just kindnessthen we wouldn't have existed from the start....Is what some people say, at least.But, it's alright.Well, that much is obvious.Yes...So...the commander was gentle from the start.
