The other Kai Nis turned into completely different girls almost, but i guess Kongou is too old to change.
She´s been trucking on since 1910, girl needs a retirement but IJN cant afford to scrap their capital ships.... uhhh, Tenryuu class turned into AA cruisers with virtually no AA, lets turn Kongou into a destroyer leader, that´ll work.

Oh, and since Musashi´s remodel deprived us of Super Yamatos, i guess Kongou makes sure we dont get any B-65 Supercruisers.

I mean, the new illustration looks great, even if she doesn’t look too different. I noticed that with Zuihou K2 as well. Either Konishi is just sick of doing his/her Kancolle girls or the Devs aren’t letting him/her be creative.

Maybe it makes her feel young. She had torpedoes when she was completed (8 broadside tubes).
