I saw that too. Maybe the chain holding her was her own little test, she's in the firmamentor as well and the "chains" holding her could be metaphysical as well as physical.
Thus her dress and hair growing out could be her "growing out" herself as a "person".
Are the marks around chompette's head in bottom left panel (the ones that look like tilted plus signs in an arc) indicating Chompette's attention or she's excited/amazed/intrigued? Or is that just marks on the ground?
