I just watched the movie this weekend, and what I love about it is how it's given each creature their own personality*- Ghidorah's obviously a swaggering villain, Godzilla's just some grim fucker with a job to do, Mothra's just a sweetie and Rodan's this sniveling Starscream-like rat bastard, I love it.
*Definitely more personality than the humans, that's for sure, outside the Japanese dude.

In most of the films he appears in, Rodan is one of Godzilla's allies, if not friends. It was interesting to see him be more self-serving, pledging loyalty to whomever was on-top at the time.
Ghidorah actually has three personalities, one per head. Though, the side heads have two different traits as opposed to a single personality like the main head.

Left head is the least bloodthirsty and somewhat curious if I recall right.

Right's sorta a mix of "Blood Knight" and "Dumb Muscle", giving Middle Head the least trouble on the whole, but being the most eager for violence.
Left's along the lines of "Stupid and curious, but also kinda a sadist", so when he's decided that actually yes, you ARE something that should be dead, or wants to kill you for the hell of it, then you're going to die painfully, probably even slowly.
