Days later he was found and was hurried to the hospital and treated with heavy medications. This is why Team Rocket became less menacing. The medication took effect and stabilized his coma dreams, instead of being terrifying, they became idyllic, and he's able to live out his Pokémon master fantasies.

The rest of the series is just the results of his subconscious mind fulfilling his desires, as well as attempting to escape them. Should Ash realize he's in a coma, he would wake up, but suffer brain damage. So he has to take down all his mental barriers one by one until he can come to grips with what he is and escape his coma.
This explains why he doesn't change much physically. Also, the worldwide socialism can be explained if you once again realize that this is a dream world; he thought up a safe system of government that would run smoothly and keeps the world going allowing his adventures to work like they do. It also explains a few other things, such as how a child can go off on his own in a world full of dangerous untamed animals, and why every Pokémon center has the same exact nurse. Joy and Jenny he knew from his hometown, and they act as a safety net or anchor, allowing him to feel safe no matter where he goes. The professors, like the Joy's and Jenny's represent stability, and ash's ideals. This is why Gary became a professor. It's also the reason that every time he enters a new region, virtually no one has heard of him, despite his conquests, and why Giovanni leads Team Rocket. How could Paul, the rival of the Sinnoh area, not know of someone who has placed in at least the top 16 of all three leagues and has destroyed the Orange league and Battle Frontier?
Ash’s travelling partners are actually aspects of himself he can enjoy, but doesn't like to associate with himself. Team Rocket are his qualities that he deems "negative", but is coming to terms with. Jesse and James want to appease Giovanni, Ash's Father. Meowth especially wants to appease him because he remembers the good times with Giovanni. This Places meowth in a category known as ash's (corrupted) innocence, and another fragment of ash's humanity. If you note that meowth can speak this quickly becomes apparrent. In fact the whole reason for meowth's speech is so he can help Ash accept Team rocket as part of himself eventually.
Brock is Ash's repressed sexuality. He fell into the coma a virgin and needed an outlet for his growing sexual frustrations. Since he can never experience sex, Brock must never succeed. Brock is a projection of his sexuality, and is constantly shot down because Ash could never “know” sex. Brock isn't just Ash's latent sexuality, he's also his fatherly instincts, neither of which Ash can come to terms with. Brock leaves his siblings to "journey" with Ash. because Ash can't cope with having that much responsibility, much as his foray with a real relationship ends on mysterious terms. Ash just cannot handle commitment at his mental level. Brock's Stay with professor Ivy was an.attempt to outright suppress his sexuality. You'll notice that James got much more dialogue in this part of the series, as well as getting more touchy feel-y with his pokemon and getting most of his backstory. Ash didn't enjoy this much, hence the reasons Brock comes back all horrified, and refuses to speak about it. (ash's subconscious was repressing him at the time, so other than a general feeling of dread he has no idea of what went on then.) He kept reinventing himself and eventually wrote new aspects, but his mind slowly brought back the old ones as a crutch to make the transition easier.
Dawn is Ash giving himself a chance to love. since he already established Misty as someone he's not likely to go anywhere with, he created a new super female, one that was more like him, and less violent all the time. 'sides, Giovanni is Silver's fath-- WAIT A MINUTE! Ash's life is not his OWN coma, but a construct of RED's coma! All of the Pokémon anime must've happened in a downtime for the lead hero of PKMN Special.

i say the shocks are there to make sure he doesn't die in the coma so. When he gets shock and means and was close to his death and in out of the coma was when the doctor gave him the shock. with this it help's keeps him alive and is coma.

When I saw the end, I went from shock, to laughing my ass off, to thinking, to really sad. It'll be a hell of a thing when Pikachu dies. I almost cried thinking about it. -_-
a while ago my friend and i were discussing about the characters ages, but their appearances and actions have not been effected by supposed age, so we figured they dramatically slowed down their ages, so satoshi would be 14 today.

Cilan is playing another mature, care-giving role, as Brock and Tracey did. But with the sommelier aspect being introduced, Ash's subconscious has made someone who can teach him something new. Cilan is someone who can hopefully show him more than he already knows, widening his knowledge a little more, but not too large of an amount.
Iris is speculated to be another chance to love for Ash, and may be the first successful opportunity created. With her mixing, yet contrasting comparisons with Ash, there may be a heavily intended chance at romance between Ash and her. But there is not enough evidence to show that Ash's subconscious has total control over her creation, so more substantiation is needed, and, at this time, is being created.
Ash’s rivals are mostly, if not all, possible futures he envisions for himself, which partly explains why they are older than him, and they are, above all, special challenges to overcome, which sets new length for the coma period. Otherwise, with no regular challenges, his acknowledgement of being in a coma will wake him up.
Gary Oak was built on from what Ash remembers of him, which is quite a lot, since they were childhood friends. He goes on to be a great trainer, but settles down after a suitable amount of accomplishments and begins a career as a researcher. This is ideal, and ties in with Tracey’s conception as well.
Paul, on the other hand, is the darkest aspect, and most aggressive individual of the series of challenging rivals Ash’s mind could have ever created. Paul wants nothing to do with weakness, and strives to become powerful and overcome anything in his way, to obtain whatever he desires. He is always pushing for something more, and Paul’s conception was the nearest, most drastic change to Ash’s world he could have experienced, which earns Paul the designation of being one of the closest chances for Ash to break the coma cycle. However, just as their rivalry was piquing and nearing a possible end to the coma, the chance to restart the cycle appeared and his mind quickly took the same action it has always done during the end of a region’s journey.
Mewtwo, being the most malevolent-seeming of creatures Ash has ever encountered, is a special, very innovative form of treatment for Ash’s comatose state. Mewtwo and his enhanced clone pokémon were speculated to have been created by a being other than Ash’s subconscious, to take down every mental guard Ash’s mind had put up (in this case, the guards were the original pokémon of his world) using brute strength. No special pokémon attacks, just sheer force... But this brawl put a huge shock to Ash’s system, and the treatment of Mewtwo’s attack was (possibly externally) cancelled. With a fear of ever coming across something so hostile and destructive again, Ash’s mind subsequently put safeguards on everything in his world, down-playing all human violence and pokémon attacks, especially Pikachu’s, and lessening their actual strength.
Whenever Ash nears a championship, he must quickly be put in his place so he doesn’t get any closer to his dream of Pokémon Mastery. For if that happens, he will wake up from his coma... To stop this, he is beaten down just before his possible victory, goes to another region, and is built back up again with similar qualities, to continue the comatose sequence in the most plausible manner. How could Paul (who has been stated to have competed in all the leagues Ash has), or any significant character for that matter, not know of Ash until meeting him? The reason is that every time he enters an unfamiliar region, he reinvents himself, because if his notoriety among the world increased uncontrollably, eventually so would his skill, and, in-turn, his skill to become a pokémon master.
