Here she is basically offering to take it to the next level if he does this one little thing...and he's put in the position where he has to ask himself if he can really live with himself without know what might have been?

I mean, there's knowing, and then there's a chance of a death curse. I don't think most guys would risk a death curse for a confession/romance.

I dunno though. That's a 10/10 look for me, so she's definitely driving a hard bargain. I hate to admit it, but I probably wouldn't be able to say no to her if she appeared like that.

Considering the consoles depicted, a new TV might have compatibility issues. And who knows? Maybe a cursed girl from a VHS can't climb out of an HD TV? Story ends with him burning the video to a disk, breaking the curse, and him never seeing her again...until there's an unexpected knock at the door. :p

It's not just any big screen, it's a HiDef, anti-glare, 4 color LCD screen. when she comes through she will look *AMAZING*

I thought scan lines are limited to CRT-era monitors or video tape recordings. Do you still get scan lines on LCD or OLED screens?

You don't normally, but it's an excellent (but apparently outdated?) shorthand to reference her as "a virtual/in screen entity".

People who emulate video games look for ways to artificially re-introduce scanlines on non-crts in order to create a more authentic experience.

On a side note, this has been a very "I'm showing my age" moment, looking at confusion in the comments over what a scanline is :O

Oh, those. I didn't consciously notice them until I looked more closely after seeing your explanation; had to even get significantly closer to my computer screen just to make sure.

1998 (31 January) was when the Japanese movie "Ring" was first released. The novel it was based on was published in June 1991, and the story says she was dumped in the well 30 years before then; meaning, (un)dead or alive, Sadako's been down there since 1961.

In a comment on Sadako's previous appearance in Tawawa-Land, someone wondered if "Sada-chan" (Himura's own nickname for her) is the same character tag-wise as "Yamamura Sadako" and, just by reading the Wikipedia page, the answer can be yes AND no. The curse is described as a fusion of Sadako's "nensha" or "projected thermography" (the ability to telepathically "burn" a mental image onto photographic film, one of her psychic powers), her personality, her rage concerning the circumstances of her being dumped in the well (in the book, the well was in the woods near the hospital where her father was being treated for tuberculosis, and she was dumped in it after being raped by one of the doctors), and the smallpox she contracted (from the doctor who raped her). Adding the canonical fact that the cursed VHS tape can be copied and "Sadako" is, literally, a virus.

Now, a copy of the original tape was played using a VHS cassette player connected to a [TAWAWA] plasma TV and -- *BOIN!* -- this version of Sadako finds herself "cursed" with supernatural fruitfulness.
