    I dunno what is worse...
The damage done on earth, shown on a personification ?
or the fires still raging about...

Just a friendly reminder that a 6km wide asteroid wasn’t even able to take out 80% of life on earth. The worst mass-extinction know, was the Permian-Triassic extinction, also known as “The Great Dying” where over 90% of life on earth was extinguished, and most scientists agree that this extinction was caused by massive Basalt Eruptions in Siberia that lasted for 10’s of thousands of years and choked the earth. Earth seems better at killing off its own life than any outer threat is...

And as the saying goes. Life always finds a way

I don't know how much it can be said that life finds a way if over 9 in 10 living things end up dead.

I think the next civilization will be that of the honey badgers, free to have unlimited domain over what is rightfully theirs.

Should look up some of the scenarios regarding oceanic carbonification and methane clathrate releases. Life might find a way, but it'll definitely find a way without us -- and, if we've fucked up badly enough, it'll revert all the way back to anaerobic basics to do it.

I think its just telling that the people who promise to help the world never deliver while the people who promise to fuck it up fucking excel.

Sadly, it's so much easier to do something bad than something good.

In this age, why even bother? People like Trump, Putin, Netanyahu, Duterte; they not only do it raw and uncut, they double-down on it. All they need is a public who will ignore how bad they are getting fucked over because they preach the demagogue.

People aren't ignoring how badly they're getting screwed over. They are aware of how badly they're getting screwed over. That's why they're looking for groups and leaders to address their concerns. Case in point with Trump, he appealed to blue collar former Democrats who were abandoned by the party. The Rust Belt states, former industrial towns and cities that had their economies ruined by foreign competition.

I remember 20 years ago, it was pretty typical for a Democrat voter to mostly be concerned with protecting the American worker from unfair foreign business practices. Typically they'd be very wary with corporations and they'd favor unions over businesses. Now it's almost like those Democrats are the new Republicans or vice versa.

I honestly have no idea who the Democrats represent anymore. I'm not even sure if they know, aside from whomever will keep them in power.

They probably represent all the people Trump hates, which is everyone who isn't part of his base.

Which is a strategy that worked so well for Hillary she won the election and became president.
