I'm trying to translate the text on the display screens in the top panel, but the kanji in the first line are proving quite problematic; so far I've only conclusively deciphered 部長 ("section/department/club chief"), while the first two kanji in said line seems like 呂禾, but said combination has no clear meaning, and the last kanji is stubbornly defying my attempts at reconstruction.

On the comic itself... So Ai-chan is technically the same cup size as Kouhai-chan, yet in the Tawawa manga volumes, Ai-chan seems to have breast envy towards Kouhai-chan, implying that the latter's breasts are at least slightly "bigger" in absolute volume (which would be plausible if their upper torsos have different dimensions).

Come now, J-cup isn't that outlandish. You should direct your question to those women who make Kouhai-chan look average-sized, like Chelsea Charms (officially "164XXX", with each breast weighing 30 pounds, i.e. 5-6 times heavier than Kouhai-chan).

Could the first two kanji be a name?
呂 is used in far too few words.

As I understand it, Japan's measurements are different from the West's.

It must be 営業部長 (sales manager).

Indeed, though only in that they never use double letters barring from AA as the smallest cup size, and their cups are one size smaller than the US (so a Japanese J is an American I).

... So 部長 can mean "manager"? Bah, could've saved me a lot of time if I knew that. And good on you for managing to figure out what the last kanji is; it was driving me crazy.

Ai-chan seems to be a fair bit shorter than Kouhai-chan, so will have a smaller band size. Every band size you go up, you lose a cup size in the bra for the same "sized" breasts (called 'sister' sizes)

So a 65-J would be a 70-I, for example, for the breasts being the same volume.

And this is one reason why I hate real-life bra measurement systems. Is there a good reason why this practice hasn't given way for one where the cup size always gives you a relatively accurate estimate of the breast volume regardless of band size?

reason is because its mass produced items, they cant exactly make an accurate one for each. other than a custom made one which costs a lot

Ai-chan reached K-cup size quite some time ago.

Because the current measurement system actually reflects how bras work, physically, and how you get a bra that actually fits your whole thorax accurately. It's only bad when you try to use cup size as a "stat" to compare different women by, but that's not what they were intended for anyway. There's no reasonable context where you need to precisely quantify how much bigger your boobs are than another woman's boobs - this isn't Manyuu Hikenchou.

Notably, bra sizes and fit can vary drastically between brands, and even between product lines from the same brand. It's a terrible system as currently implemented, only useful to women once they've tried one or more examples of a particular product line. There's famously a statistic about it: 80% of women are wearing the wrong bra size. There's seemingly also a prejudice against larger actual cup sizes - "I can't possibly be a D - those are huge", etc, that causes women to wear too big a band and too small a cup size.

Bra sizes straight up aren't standardized - the only way most women will get a properly fitting bra is to consult a professional.

Boobs are like faces; they're all a little different.

Oh, right. I forgot that post #2600246 actually gave her a cup size increase rather than merely the new overall bust circumference.
