I think it's probably an allusion to being 'warm', so I'm just gonna put that until someone corrects it. Otherwise we have a very happy looking but demented picture xD

Though I must confess I had no idea how it was written either until I looked it up specifically for this post. Who the hell names a breed of dog "firewood dog"? (Or "brush dog") Okay, Wikipedia told me it's because in the old Nagano dialect shiba meant small or because they were used to hunt in the brushwood.
