the latest tweet from Shirokitsune has confirmed he? is the artist which means sentai has completely noticed and I dont care at this point that much like Kawakaze they are based on their creator's mascots

Hanaduck has a slightly curious history. She was unable to see much service and was instead given to America as a war prize. She was dubbed "DD-934" with no formal name given, though sources differ on her ultimate fate. Wiki says she was taken behind the shed, while CombinedFleet says she was simply scrapped. I wonder if her brief stint as an American ship will factor into her characterization in any way?

To be fair, it's less about being a naval nerd and more about misreading things, because I don't think 月 is ever read as "kaze".
