I'm just waiting for Tetsuya Nomura to sink this ship by coming out on a stage show and telling everyone "guys their just friends, Tifa X Aeris was never a thing".

Did he sink some other ship already? Do people really think Aerith and Tifa are romantically compatible?

If you ask me, the depiction of their friendship in the Remake is really forced. It's one thing to downplay Tifa's jealousy, but Tifa's a country gal being confronted with the prospect of a slick, charismatic alley cat taking the one piece of home she's got left away from her. Aloof and stand-offish is a very believable and appropriate state for her to be in.
But instead, they're BBFs after just meeting each other. And they're even telling rather cruel jokes at Cloud's expense.
Almost like people can enjoy ships without them being canon. I'm not really sure why people are clicking on fan-art of a ship that they don't like and then saying how they hope the shippers have their day ruined. Just seems weirdly petty and aggressive to me.

Says the one with non canon ships as his favorites
What, Tactician (Mark) and Lyndis from Fire Emblem? Far as I know, there's no canon pairing. At least not from the original game. Besides which, Hector's wife and Eliwood's wife ends up dying from giving birth. That doesn't seem like a fitting end for Lyn.
I will grant you that Lyndis doesn't seem interested in men who can't fight. And every time she reiterates that in a new release, I die a little inside.

Oh I'm real sure gran is smashing every thing in sight in canon. My point is that going into a pairing post just to shit on it is stupid. Don't like the pairing fine but don't try to rip on it because you feel some type of way about it.

Well you're going about it in an odd way of trying to prove your point, going after what may seem to be my preferences.
Although, sure, why not? Let's get into it.
Cloud's story is pretty goddamn fixated on winning Tifa's love. It's *the" triumphant moment that pulls him back from the brink of death that allows him to go onto save the world. It's so central to his character and story, the villain recognizes the value of that bond, and seeks to undermine and exploit it.
I don't know how you can like FF7 and not at the very least respect that to be a fact.
In the same vein, why are people shipping Tifa x Aeris if the two of them weren't even really friends in the original? Does every kind of personal tension between people have to be resolved through sex? Can't people just not really like each other?
But then in the Remake, they really rub it in that now for very little reason Tifa and Aeris are super great friends. Rather than being the least bit believable, the only real thing to result from this is that...Cloud's not really worth getting jealous over anymore. Tifa's attachment to Cloud has been undermined. She's no longer possessive of him.
So in what used to be his story, Cloud's less important in a particular way. Tifa's not attached to him anymore. And no one recognizes Cloud's skills as a fighter, he's flat out comparable to everyone else in the group, including Jessie, Biggs, and Wedge. Aeris is usurping his mantle as the leader in the fight against Sephiroth.
What role does Cloud even play anymore? He's not the leader. He's not the muscle. Tifa doesn't care about him in any particular way. Any chad with a big sword off the street would have done the same thing for her.
The only thing that makes Cloud special anymore is that Sephiroth hates him.

Cloud was always the less important one since he was basically pretending to be someone he wasn't, ultimately not his fault but the story was never truly centered around cloud. Also this is a ship pic we enjoy it because we like the pairing so once again coming here to rant because you don't like it is stupid

That's not true. Cloud was very important early game. He was the guy with the skills to pay the bills. He made things happen because of how badass he was. The group made him leader because of how strong he was and that he had a special and personal understanding of their enemy, Sephiroth.
When it became revealed that Cloud was as much of a liability as a necessity to their mission, the group was confronted with becoming indecisive but carried on anyway, despite the risks. As they knew they didn't have a choice.
Tifa then became the pivotal character, because of her attachment to Cloud. And she gave up the mantle to the others, because ultimately Cloud was the most important thing to her.
What happens when Tifa and Cloud aren't in the picture? Well, Barret reveals how much he's grown by refusing the role of leadership...and appoints Cid because they don't really got anyone else. The next little ways into the story are kind of silly.
It's not really that different from how FF6 started out. Terra was the main character because of her mysterious power. Everyone thought she was the key to understanding and defeating the Empire. Ultimately, she lead the group to Ramuh, and he told the group all about the Empire's secret.

Except early game cloud wasn't cloud that was the whole point of his story, him realizing that he wasn't this uber badass 1st class solider. Honestly the more this goes on the more it becomes apparent that you've self-inserted and you see this as some kind cucking session

An interesting twist with your main character doesn't mean he wasn't the main character. Besides which, by the time Cloud comes back to the group, they've all pretty much concluded their own developments. Let's see, there's...
Cid has to go into space and learn to stop being an asshole to Shera and...Vincent has to settle things with Hojo. If you let him.
...Honestly, the Remake makes it seem like Cloud's a lovable side-kick. At best.

I was referring to an incident that took place during a presentation for Devil May Cry 5 at Tokyo Game show 2018, where game director Hideaki Itsuno had to clarify that Lady and Dante weren't a couple.
As for Tifa X Aeris well, it's basically the Zutara of this generation. I.E the ship that never stood a chance because the creators never intended for it to be a thing.
