A young, blond officer glances up at the detective, then returns his gaze to the small boy with black hair and a red and white hat lying in an awkward position on the ground. A small amount of dried blood is visible around a wide hole through the by, slightly covering charred skin. Aside from a cone of splatter, there is little other blood.
"The Pokedex found on him is registered to an Ash Ketchem, of Pallet Town. Trainer of fair skill apparently. We have officers in the forest searching for whatever went through this kid. It appears to have cauterized the damage, leading to less blood than normal for a wound this size."
The officer gets up and walks several feet to a patch of blackened, fused dirt.
"Over here is a patch of ground damage fairly consistent with an electric attack. From the radius I'm guessing a Pikachu." The officer crouches at a portion in line with Ash's body and the direction of the splatter.
"It gets weird here. Normally the attack would lift up away from the ground and arc towards the target. Attacks that run along the ground are distinctive, so we could rule those out..."
The detective interrupts, "That damage is consistent with the area surrounding the target of an electric attack."
"It is. So the Pikachu was attacking something very close to itself, but very small..."
Just then Officer Jenny runs up. "Sirs, you may want to see this."
The detective and officer follow Officer Jenny about one hundred feet into the forest, passing several shattered trees. They come to a large tree with a large hole bored into it, some splinters still smoldering. In the deepest part, they can make out an object glowing very faintly red.
"Sirs, you may want to look back the way you came."
The detective turns around, then suddenly leans down, sighting along the trajectory the projectile took. A clear line back to the road and scene, the projectile had blown everything in it's way apart.
The young officer got out his flashlight and peered into the hole again. "I think it's a coin. One hundred yen."
