you guys have never looked at the way an arm can look from different angles have you? this could -very- easily be a coincidence. having drawn characters and then found crazy stuff afterwards in my own art, i can say this with authority.
of course, that doesn't mean it couldn't have been intentional, just that it could break either way.
truth be told, i'd be far more amused by it being a true coincidence.
