I know exactly what Rosehip is talking about. When I try to run in a dream, half the time it doesn't work. When people are in REM sleep, most of the motor neurons are inhibited to keep them from acting out their dreams and running into stuff. I think I can somehow sense that lack of mobility in a dream when I try to run, so it feels like I can't move. Jumping still seems to work though, so in some dreams I end up doing this weird hopping thing if I need to get around in a hurry. I almost invariably wake up covered in sweat afterwards.
When I am able to get some level of conscious control in a dream, I can use the ability of self-levitation. This is incredibly useful for traveling, being able jump over buildings or entire city blocks or more, although it seems to require a lot of concentration. Sometimes I wish I had that ability when I was awake!
Actually, the worst dreams are when you have a semi-awareness of the waking world. Like you know you're asleep in bed, and you can feel everything your body feels, but you can't move any of your muscles. Or you "get out of bed", extremely sluggishly, walk out of the room, only to "wake up" and realize that you are still asleep in your bed, which can often repeat over and over. Couple that all with a night terror, where not only can you not move, but you start getting hallucinations, like something is just above you, watching you, or someone has just broken into your house, and they've started making their way to your room.
Does it count for role reversal that Rosehip's teacup is calm while Darjeeling's teacup is splashing up?
What's wrong Rosehip, you're looking...I was so scared and frus-trated ...!!I had a night-mare last night...For some reason some-thing scary was chasing meMy legs moved futilely as my body floated and I couldn't run at all! After waking, I ran around the yard!!I was also vexed and frustr-ated...
So that was the fuss this morning...
If it's nightmares, I also get them once in a while...The aphorism that I'm spouting to Pekoe never comes outThat'd be fine every once in a while...Eh!It's a Nightmare desu wa!
