There used to be plenty of discussion regarding how Maribel's family name should be spelled; "Han" was what was settled on before the discussions took place. The more correct spelling, in my book, is "Hearn". The reason why, is the connection to a real-life historical figure: Patrick Lafcadio Hearn, who moved to Japan in the late 1800s and changed his name to "Koizumi Yakumo".
