I feel sort of mixed. I like the idea of someone who is Monte Cristo levels of wanting revenge mind-wiping his victim only to start having second thoughts on themselves, but that's not what happened here.

Well it's not like anyone else in the show is any better. I'm certainly not going to say anything Keyaru does is justified, but literally everyone in this story is just complete human filth. I can't even confidently say that anything he's done is actually worse than what's been done to him. He was drugged, raped, and tortured for two straight years by an entire country.

I know but a compelling vendetta narrative needs to explain why I should care about this particular person's injustice and why I want to see it be resolved (whether through achieving the vendetta or coming to peace). Someone who has been tortured who then sadistically tortures his victims, who are ultimately caricatures, isn't that interesting to me.
The idea of someone effectively destroying someone and then dealing with what to do with a person who effectively only inhabits the body of their abuser is something I can get behind.

the thought-provoking part is that he IS completely justified, but still an asshole. and yet because literally everyone else is so much worse, he's still the "good" guy by process of elimination. and it's hilarious to realize that in flare/freiya's case, pretty much every bit of his plan to hurt her fell apart because his actions have basically fixed everything that gave her a reason to be a monster; in trying to hurt her he ended up healing her, or at least giving her the chance to heal. I imagine when she gets her memory back she's going to slap him, then kiss him. give him the full "I'm mad about how you did this but still glad you did it" treatment.
