Unfortunately, Amber is garbage because she is quite literally designed to be garbage. Baron Bunny's AI is a joke, and seems to be even worse than similar constructs created by players-- ie, Oz and Gouba. Also, the health of Bunny scaling off of Amber's max health? I'm sorry, what? You're asking a purely DPS character, who wants attack or elemental mastery because that's what her burst and charged attacks scale off of, to go ahead and stack some health just to make Bunny kind of less crap than usual? Her burst is also really finicky to use, even with the increased AoE from her passive. And her constellations are crap. The double arrow at C1 is okay. C2 needs a redesign. Specifically hitting the FOOT of her bunny with a charged shot to detonate it? Needs way more set up than is actually worth. C4 is... not super bad, until you realize Klee gets two charges of her mines baseline and wonder why Baron Bunny isn't two charges baseline. And her C6 isn't all that impressive. A small movement and attack buff for 10 seconds is just kind of... meh. Doesn't exactly feel like it should be a C6.
Anyway, there is a reason Amber is regulated to torch puzzle duty. Even her 3rd passive talent is barely enough of a reason to dump resources into her and then keep her slotted on your team. Even as a free to play player, you're better off dumping Amber as soon as you obtain Xiangling (who is free from Abyss) or Xinyan.
AR 45 and Amber is my go-to for long-range combat. She just needs the right artifacts and weapons and she is easily viable from my experience. Both exploration and Abyss.

Being "Viable" doesn't make her any less weak. She's still the weakest character. The same gear that makes her usable works on any other character just as well, and they'll get more out of it by virtue of just being stronger characters.
Her uselessness is definitely exaggerated, but it is a fact that her overall performance falls short of everyone else. If you don't specifically prefer her, and you have stronger options, there's no reason to dedicate precious resources to her over someone else.
Whoa, a Valkyrie profile reference? Haven’t seen that in years. The battle system from Covenant of the Plume always been one of my favorite in terms of visual.

Noelle is pretty good, she's in my main party but I usually have her regulated to healing and shielding.
Not all people are tryhards if they want op characters. Who wants a poorly designed character that ruins your experience when you can have a strong one that is both fun and useful?

You know what? People who judge other players for using "bad" characters just because they like them and have more fun with them suck. But you know who else sucks? People who act smug about using "bad" characters and judge other players for using strong characters, and insist that they're tryhards who aren't having fun because they want to use characters that are easier to succeed with.

I personally didn't type anything about anyone being a tryhard if they use good characters. I just personally think worrying about using higher tier characters is stressful, especially in a game like this where it isn't even guaranteed to get great characters or weapons. Sorry about that

That’s actually quite the opposite, choosing meta is meant to be easy and efficient. Look how ganyu can nike wo even hitting target, her aoe insane.
Sure there are exceptions but whaling is a form of convenience (easy gaming). But when you run xiao or hu tao, thats meta but with hi risk hi reward play style
