It was kind of painful seeing how things changed so much in a fairly short time, from Osanai skyrocketing her liking to coming back to 50%, but this feels way more realistic taking in to acount that this dude it's pretty socialy awkward.

But holy, Himekawa REALLY don't like him now.
If I'm gonna guess at anything he probably didn't want to risk it.
His mentality at the time may have been along the lines of "If I accept her feelings and we don't work out what happens to our friendship?"
Since she is the first person we have seen for him that was interested in stroking any sort of friendship with him the off chance of losing said friendship may have been the primary reason for him doing the stuff he did.
With how socially awkward he is it would probably have subconsciously terrified him to lose her.
At the moment his situation can be summarized as
Osanai - Friend that he doesn't want to lose so he doesn't really realize that he already loves her in someway already.
Kinjyou - The girl he dreams and aims for but can't make a move for yet.
Otomore - Weirdly infatuated with him girl that we really need to get context on.
Himekawa - The personafication of the fans who are annoyed with him and the only sane one of the group so far.
Yeah this is a mess but a really great to read about one that is.
I mean, I gotta be honest, this whole series feels like a Lose/Lose for the artist unless he quote-on-quote "cops out" and just makes a harem route, which... I mean, that'd undercut the whole story as well.
Either one of the 'routes' ends up winning, in which case there'll be like... 3/4 of the readers will be disappointed that their waifu didn't win, or he keeps the series going without any conclusion forever to avoid making a 'canon' choice. There's no way this can end satisfactorily, but it's such a good series anyway. It's quite infuriating. Especially because I hate the thought that any of those four end up heartbroken and sad.
I mean, unless he travels back to a point and creates diverging timelines, but given the format, that seems like it'd be a really difficult thing to do conceptually. Unless this has all been a really elaborate sales pitch for a visual novel, I guess.

I think that it would actually be interesting to explore the other routes by "rolling back" the save file that we keep seeing (at least that's how I've been interpreting the screen the pops up with the percentages and key items of the four).
It's not something that I would want to see until after the main story reaches a conclusion. But after it does I'd love seeing a sort of "IF" series where he ends up going with others.
*Sigh...* ...You know, every single thing about you is half-assed!...If you're a man, then tell it like it is!.........Half-assed, huh
She's right; Himekawa-san hit the nail on the head... I really am just......Seriously
I hate people like you the most...You make me sick!I can't be the one to tell Senpai she fell for a piece of garbage like you*Glare...!**Yank!*............I'm sorry.
At this point, there's nothing I can say.
