Dunno what the official reading for the name of Yuyuko/Youmu's kid is, so gonna go with "Youyuu" for now. If anyone can confirm it or provide what the artist planned it to be (if it's wrong), that would be great.

Haha yeah I know what you mean, but Kyouno made Sakuya/China's and Yuyuko/Youmu's kid both male.

Pretty sure I saw furigana somewhere calling him Youyu, though which picture that was escapes me. Also, Hakugyokurou is usually left untranslated in the fandom for whatever reason. Thanks for translating all these, recklessfirex.

    No problem.

I thoroughly enjoy this series as well so I thought I'd make it more accessible to a wider audience. Thanks also for the tips on the names; I'm pretty much a Touhou newbie outside of the Scarlet Devil Mansion group (and friends) so I've still got some reading to do. :3

Bit of a double post here, but translation related.

@sgc: Yes, in Chinese Shou/Xiao's name would be pronounced as such, but given that Kyouno wrote in the reading for it (in the Japanese reading, unlike his mother's name), we should keep it as intended until further notice. Also, the artist him(her?)self possibly hasn't decided on the name all the way, since in another comic it was written in as "Shourin" so we'll have to wait on that.

I'll accept to wait on it.
However, I must point out that not many Japanese Touhou fans would actually pronounce Meiling's name in the Chinese pronunciation either; they usually pronounce it "meirin" or "mirin" (if not simply calling her "China") because those are the closest available approximations the on-yomi can provide. There weren't any furigana helps next to Meiling's name in post #447484, for example.

"rei" and "rin" are both alternate pronunciations of 鈴, which only has the "ling" pronunciation in Chinese. I think the author's waffling over which reading to use is pointless in that regard.

I agree with you, but it's just that I'm operating on the fact that as the kid is Kyouno's creation and there is no widely accepted reading as there is for Meiling, it seems to me to be more prudent to take it as is until official confirmation. Artist's indecision is not necessarily pointless, however, if the decision to keep how it's written in furigana now is retained. "Shourei" seems to be winning out based on the number of times it has appeared relative to "Shourin". If the end decision does become "Xiaoling" on the other hand, then as you say, it doesn't matter anymore.

Either way, we can take care of it quickly.

    看來你跟我一樣,中/日都會。 一起加油吧! ;3

    I do believe the characters

    咲鈴 or Shourei / Shaoling

mean Laughing Bell in contrast to (Hong) Meiling which means (Red) Beautiful Bell.

I wonder which family name Shourei adopted? :D

    Shourei!
Yuyuko-san sent me part of the way.
    *whap*
    Your time today wasn't bad.
    *rub*rub*
Like I'd ever do that for you.
Hey, use "-san" for me too!
    He's dryin' off or something...?
    *poof*
    Also...
Ah, that's right. What was Youyu doing?
    Here, you forgot something.
    Thanks for having us~!
    *pet*pet*
You gave it your all, didn't you?
So you got dropped off at Hakugyokurou but you ran back from the base of Youkai Mountain?
    Uuhhh...
    Huh?
    Good afternoon, Reimu-san.
Shut up. And stop petting my head.
