  • I keep randomly thinking up snippets of dialogue and then feeling the need to draw them out :') Read right to left and set shortly after the destruction of Khaenri'ah

Pretty sure Morax was the god of war.

Contracts just being what he focused on later on in his life that winded up sticking more.

Contracts ARE, in fact, part of war. Armistices/truces in particular fits Zhongli's 'If you break the contract (made in his name), then you shall suffer the Wrath of Rock (essentially his rock spears)' directive. Zhongli probably tried to reason with the outer gods of not attacking Teyvat, and he would spare their lives, but being driven to insanity by the dark sea, those gods broke the contract and ended up sleeping with the fishes. Zhongli learned from this that contracts needs something physical to bind the two contractees more than just verbal agreement, and thus created Mora as the symbol of him as the third party present in the deal to ensure both sides upheld their contract.

....what Outer God's are you talking about?

    Last I checked those weren't a thing on Genshin....yet.

Check out the lore more. The Dark Sea lore was hidden in the Weapon ancension item Aerosiderites; outer gods are basically the gods who was defeated by the Seven and ran away to the remote islands beyond Teyvat because they don't want to be ruled under the Seven. But Khan'eriah happened, and the corruption sow by Gold made these gods crazy and thus attacked the nearest place: Liyue Harbor. That's the story behind Osial, or Guyun Stone Forest in general.

Then you may want to work on the wording because that implied lovecraft type of stuff.

Sounds more like forgotten or hidden God's or something rather than Outer God's.

Morax is not the God of War, another case of a translation error. He is the God of Martial Arts in that quote in his Story 5.

Outer Gods (with capital) = Cthulhu mythos.
outer gods (without capital) = not necessarily Cthulhu mythos.
They weren't forgotten nor hidden; they ran away from Teyvat, leaving their believers and their territory to seek refuge in the islands beyond the Seven's reach. Hence, outer gods.

Barbatos: There was a time we were siblings, before your anger and thirst for vengeance drove you mad.
Tsaritsa : Your rambles have no meaningful me, only my holy principles matter.
Barbatos: Listen to yourself! Comparing yourself to Celestia! Acting as if your quest for power is a noble revolution! I know what you did! When you sent the Fatui to manipulate or even dictate your will on your own brothers and sisters!
Tsaritsa: Brothers and sisters?!? We were never brothers. And if we were, perhaps you would have welcomed the Fatui to stop your people from being harmed or killed to your pitiful plans and petty ideals!
Barbatos: And how many of your own people suffered or died because of your plans of vengeance?
Tsaritsa: They died for the revolution! THEY DIED MARTHYRS!
Barbatos: I doubt that. And it doesn’t matter. We are going to stop you. You, the Fatui, Dottore are all going to pay for what you’ve done! Your quest for vengeance has burned down Teyvat like a fever, and you will pay for that!
Tsaritsa: And will you? How many have suffered because of your quest for freedom? Have you forgotten that because you refused to rule Mondstadt, it was ruled instead by a tyrant? When will YOU pay, brother?
Barbatos:….I pay everyday of my life….and every night when sleep doesn’t come. I pay in this life, sister. But you will have to pay in the next one.
