I wouldn't be surprised if it's similar to pokemon ranger or conquest where while you're allowed limited numbers on hand, its more like they just come to you when you call them.

Otherwise if we really take the BoTW route, pokemons break per use. Could you imagine how fun that would be (basically official nuzlocke)
