    While Geodude might come across as rough around the edges and blunt, they're actually really affectionate! Don't let the size difference fool you, they're really sturdy and like a good pounding, they almost see it as a challenge!

    The deal with Nidoking is that it's always male and has a female counterpart in Nidoqueen. The series hasn't hit any other canonically all-male pokemon yet, so it's up in the air what the artist will do when they reach, say, the hitmons. Mr. Mime however is 50/50 in sex ratio despite the name.

    Pretty sure Hitmonlee and Hitmonchan are all male though.

    They are, but it's entirely possible that the artist may just choose to genderbend them anyway (and, as it turned out, they have, though obviously I would not have known this when I made the original comment a year ago). This didn't work for Nidoking (and the younger nidorans) because the whole point of Nidoking is that he's the male counterpart to another pokemon, so there's no way to "musu" that without the entire concept becoming unintelligible, but the hitmons have no such limitations, so at the time I made the original comment, I didn't know whether the artist would keep to the hitmons's canonical all-maleness or not.
