How is Marisa a recluse? In all the official literature she's always in the village learning rumors
She lives on her own in the forest of magic and doesn't have to deal with situations like this one. Marisa has the freedom to act as she pleases and only affects herself while Murasa can't act on her own without affecting Myourens reputation.

She lives alone, but I don't think Chado calling her a recluse is correct. She only lives alone because of her presumably strained relationship with her parents over her desire to be a magician. She doesn't avoid other people, so she doesn't really fit the definition.

What word would you use instead of recluse here then? It's certainly not perfect, but I don't know if Chado prefers Marisa that way and writes her as more of a recluse than she is in canon (whatever that really means with Touhou fanworks). Regardless I do think it at least fits for comparing Myoren and Marisa, relative to them she is more or less a recluse.

Iunno, individualist?
No matter how I ask around, I just can't figure out a solution...
HAAAAAAAAAAAAA...
Do I have no choice but to wait until Ichirin or Nazrin or someone takes care of things...?
You think a recluse would have the answer to that?
I wish. I can barely control my own students sometimes.
When I went to Eientei, they tried to push some meds on me...
In Hell, on the other hand, they just recommended segregation.
If only we could persuade Byakuren, that would probably be best, but...
