I would say that inmortals are the ones who suffer more with that. No world ever was going to be completely static, so, doesn't matter what they do, they will always face "bad times", mortals do what they can with the time that they have, but inmortals can loose the "rush" to do things, because, why even care? They have all the time in the world to do or see whatever.
Most people find lame humans in fantasy for how "generic they are", but is that generic bar that let some good points of introspection to be born in a story. Specially when you have vastly different cultures and points of view about life to compare with it.
