Too bad this show's being directed by Shinbo Akiyuki, or else I'd watch more of it. :/

Depends, some people love his directing style. I just happen to be one of those that hates it. Most opinions on him seem to rest on one of the extremes.

I should add that some series where he's been given a shorter leash (i.e. less of his trademark randomness allowed) haven't been all that bad for me, however. Just when he goes over the top, which he is prone to do quite often. Give it a shot and see for yourself I guess.

I, for one, love his directing style. It keeps me engaged.
