それでも敢えて坂井三郎機は避けてみたり。
真珠湾攻撃時の赤城所属機のマーキングです。

日本人なら誰もが思い入れのある零戦。勿論俺もそうです。

高すぎる基本性能とそれに固執しすぎた頭の固い上層部(主に源田とか源田とか源田) が悲しい結末を招いた飛行機ですね。ま、その悲劇こそが日本人らしくて好きですが。
『全てにおいて零戦以上』とか寝言いってないで弱点補強だけした後継機開発してれば無茶な延命措置で自分の首を締めることも無かったろうに……
と、いう事で三以降は正直ダメだと思うんで二一型です。

ちなみにパールハーバーの零戦を借りたレストアガレージにはこの白い二一型もあったとか。それを「せっかくだから俺はこの緑の方を選ぶぜ！」と歴史考証能力ゼロのブラッカイマーが選んだのがよりによってマニホールドがニョロニョロ伸びた五二型だったというｗ

Title: Just as you thought
Even so, I did not dare to draw the plane of too famous Sakai Saburou . These are the markings on a plane that belonged to the aircraft carrier Akagi at the time of the Pearl Harbor attack .

This is the A6M Reisen(Zero fighter) that has memories for any Japanese person. Of course, for me too.

This airplane's too-high basic performance and hard-headed upper ranks (Examples: Genda Minoru and...uh, because he is too notorious, I cannot hit on other examples...) that relied on it too stubbornly both met a sad end. That extreme tragedy is one of the reasons why I like this airplane because it appreciated only by Japanese and almost certainly no one else. Instead of saying nonsense like "The Zero's successor aircraft should all have better performance than the Zero," if they had fortified its weak points and quickly developed later aircraft, they would not have shot themselves in the foot by futile improvements for life extension.... That's why I can honestly say that any Zero fighter of A6M3 or later was no good. This is a picture of A6M2b.

By the way, this white-painted A6M2b is said to have also been in the Planes of Fame restoration garage that lent the Zeros used in the American war film 'Pearl Harbor.' Despite that, producer Jerry Bruckheimer --who completely lacked any sense of historical verisimilitude--said "Anyway, I want this green-painted one! (A parody of lines to appear in the Sega Saturn game 'Death Crimson')" and of all things he picked the A6M5 with the noticeably extended exhaust manifolds lol.

(The biggest difference in external appearance between the A6M2 and the A6M5 was the exhaust manifolds.)

This man has obviously never become acquainted with the legions of Zero fanboys who thinks it the best thing ever because their knowledge of air combat amounts to “lol turning tighter is all that matters! I know cause I’ve played lot of ace combat!”

However, in real aerial combat, there is a measure of truth to that. The only thing the really workied against the A6M was its light construction and light weapons.

Wasn't it's speed also not as good as even fighters like the P-40?

And its inability to out-climb or out-dive anything.

And its relatively awful top speed.

And its inability to perform up to spec at higher altitudes.
