There are ultrapatriots in Russia (vatniks), there are apolites that just believe propaganda (most of them are elderly), there are liberals, antimilitary socialists (not to be confused with "red conservators" and "patriotic left"), nationalist opposition. Opposition in Russia really tried to change the regime a lot of times, but Russia is a huge country with a very scattered population and plutocratic and oppresive regime. It is no secret that while the opposition was being detained on Bolotnaya Square, shot from tanks during the events of Black October, credits and oil and gas money continued to flow into Russia. After 2012 and huge opposition actions Russian regime is fighting so-called "foreign agents" who have been "kind of" funded by people, organizations or governments of other countries, but what I can say for sure is that the Russian opposition has never been pumped as much money as the Russian regime. When you are fighting an enemy who is much stronger than you, who has an advantage over you, it turns out very strange when people start accusing YOU of losing, fleeing the country, being killed or imprisoned. Yes, of course, you can scold the Russian opposition that they are so bad, they should have fought the regime harder, but the tendency to equalize those who fight the regime and those who support the regime is extremely false, just like the tendency to belittle or deny the actions of the opposition. When the Russian state propaganda calls Estonians Nazis, this does not mean that an average Russian liberal thinks the same thing.
