Yeah, i'm not allowed to say that the new female protagonist looks like a mushroom but you can say that this is not Natsume? Pfft. I like this new outfit, this picture is a little "extreme", but i like her new style. There are many "quiet" and "cool" characters, i like that she now looks badass.

You have to remember that the different iterations of Sabrina are all very unique. Game, anime, Special, and Ono's manga all had varying interpretations of the character. This is just another direction.
Well, I can understand how someone could get a tramp vibe. That hair looks tackily flipped, at least for real-world standards (which would also mean lots of hairspray and/or gel), the pants ride low (one could imagine them being used to show off a "tramp stamp"), and the shirt is a bit low cut with thin straps, which would make for easy visual access (or physical, if flashing is warranted). Plus, the midriff thing. It's not too hard to see it as trampy, though it would have to be accentuated by actions, with only one of Sabrina's three animations being feasible for that, IMO.

People care about character designs. If you were a fan of Cloud Strife and they gave him a more kid friendly look that turned out looking pretty stupid, then yes you'd be pissed off too. A character's design goes with the character's qualities and aspects of his/her person. If a character gets a new design that hardly looks anything (or not at all) like the original version, you can bet the character's fanbase are gonna be pissed, cause yeah, the character's design was one of the things they liked about the character.
I swear, just because people find things they dont like in newer installments or remakes doesn't make them nostalgic fanboys, and the pokemon community needs to get their heads out of their asses thinking that by "not complaining" and "accepting everything gamefreak hands them" makes them better than the people that make complaints about anything. If people give a damn about character design, whats to say they are wrong for giving a damn?

Well there is a HUGE differnce between this and bayformers. That's a prime example of what NOT to do when making an "adaptation", which is the key word here. Michael Bay messed things up when he took "creative" liberties with that frachise. This is a completely different case here since since it's just a change in character design as oppose to the whole thing being changed ( which is what Bay did because despite the focus of autobots vs decepticons still being there, there was WAYYYY too much side shit that just distorted those movies).

This is true, but this is sabrina we're talking about, a side/boss character(has made like what 2 appearances in the games excluding the remakes) with little to no character development other than the anime/manga which for the most part is not canon to the games. As far as fans go, safe to say that their "zeal" for the series will ultimately do more harm than gamefreaks' changes. Wanna effect real change? Mail a letter or email to them.

Complaining about changes in gameplay mechanics, questionable subject matter(sabrina's new look could be considered as such, but 2 to 1 she's gonna be sprited so null and void), adding/subtracting certain game elements is one thing as this is the main focus of pokemon. But complaining about a character's change in attire is more minor than major. I like sabrina's old outfit too, but I know when change is innevitable and you know it's not going to change the "gotta catch them all" aspect of the game.

Listen, I understand great gameplay must come before all, but for fucks sake, pokemon's gameplay will NEVER change, so there's nothing to ever worry about. However, a lot of people care about the characters even if their personalities are one dimensional (despite that future games), because for one, a lot of characters in pokemon.....are pretty cool, whether it be the cartoon, comic, or otherwise. But even then, the characters in-game have started to become slightly more fleshed out than just guys to fight. And in general, some characters have designs that just appeal to you and give you a particular feeling about a character. The main male character of GS is a bad ass design for me while I hate Lucas for Platinum (and plan on fucking trading EVERYTHING I got from that game over to SS when it comes out). Not only because of the design mind you, other issues in the game pissed me off (fuck honey trees), but I would rather play a character that looks less like a complete dork (the beret is bad fashion to me at least).
People (admittingly) liked Sabrina's scary ass persona from the show and link that to the game character. Even then, the dialogue from the games makes her seem much more of a serious Gym Leader than most others. Her design also accentuated that aspect. The reason why this design upsets people (me included) is because it doesn't truly bring out that serious aspect of her character (and after about +12 years of the same psychic chick's design, yeah I'd doubt most people would expect a change like this). Plus, another issue urked me about the change. A person on another forum stated to not have cared for the character at all, but remarked that she looks hot and has become is "official favorite character of pokemon" I shat bricks at the shallowness of that guy. Personally, I have a bit of an urked edge over Karen's redesign. the dark gown she wore seemed to bring out her type theme (dark pokemon). Now she looks casual and not a trainer who uses dark pokemon or have a certain mysterious "zeal" about her. But no, this wont "destroy the games" and NO ONE is saying/implying/declaring that. Its an over exaggeration tbh. See where im coming from?
As far as fans go, safe to say that their "zeal" for the series will ultimately do more harm than gamefreaks' changes.
Every fandom shares this same exact thought. On the internet, most people sound like fucking morons, but thats because they aren't really mature and dont think about the core franchise in general, but only think about what they exclusively want for the franchise, such as "Dark and Edgier" toons like Hellsing. Those people should be ignored. But they shouldn't account for EVERY FAN ON THE INTERNET. Some people may have unique and well...good idea to improve a franchis. But usually, the good of anything is silenced by the vocal fuckheads that perpetuate the forums. Yes, the creators know what to do with a franchise they made, but lets not develop a mentality that says no one else can take a crack at it. The fans can't possibly do worse than Fox or Uwe Boll have thus far.

As far as what I said about the fans, the ones you mentioned are exactly the ones I'm talkin about, the rotten apples that fuck up once respectable fanbases. It won't affect my gameplay experience, even though the essence of a character would be lost.
Still, nintendo hardly gives a shit what fans say, especially if it has something to do with designs of characters (which, like you said, doesn't affect gameplay, so why they would care is anyone's guess). Yes people may raise hell about it, but in the end, like you said, it doesn't make the game totally suck.
What DOES suck was the arbitrary and tedious forms of catching/evolving pokemon themselves. THATS something to email nintendo about. But seeing HGSS's methods of catching them all, it seems they got the message (No honey trees is a god send).
yea.... Now I haven't read to manga but to me pretty much everyone in Pokemon and especially the pokemon game have to depth and personality of toilet paper so it doesn't really surprise me that somebody might call a character their favorite based on character design, what else do you have to go on?

Seriously, If you don't like it, make your own anime and game series that features a psychic with a long hime-cut, clean and professional clothes, and a serious attitude. If it looks like a tramp, it may not be. I'd have to say most of the "Rage" is coming from that most depictions of her are well, the more mature adult version. Even if you go look back at the craptastic anime version, shes diffenetly older than the rest of the cast. And in the electric tales of pikachu manga, shes the more motherly character. So when you have a pretty "Defined" character being shown off as a teenager, ya, people will rage. not including Doujishi's, all the pokemon manga's depict Natsume is being an adult. Either gloomy or Motherly. Now if we include all the Doujins, well, its pretty much burned into all the fan's brain. so when Gamefreaks decide to change her image....ya....

Just putting it out there... the way you dress in no way effects your character. You can be as serious as shit and wear "skimpy" clothes (see Konan's casual wear, for example).
I'm going to say, I like her new look. I think its a cool re-skin of one of my favorite characters even from the original R/B/G/Y. I'll always appreciate some nostalgia-inducing scenes in the Pokemon games, but I'm not one of these angry fan boys who will start screaming and crying because they gave Sabrina a haircut and she changed clothes.

Just gonna add my 2 cents here. to people who cant understand why so many are so angry...its because this is just a complete, sudden, and random change from the original character. This new change leaves absolutely nothing of what remains of the original design and the original image of the character.
It doesnt matter what aspect it is...when something established gets an abrubt random 180 for no good reason, its gonna piss off alot of people. ANd a character's design and image are a very imprtant part of their overall presentation and often a representation if their personalities.
I can understand if you think it's "useless" to get angry but the anger is easily understandable. I find this new look very hot/sexy, but it jus isnt "sabrina" anymore because the established image if what is considered "sabrina" has been completely scrapped.
Its like somone took a picture of a sunny sky, made it into a rainy night but still kept the title "sunny sky" and presented it as the original picture. The original meaning of the painting is totally gone, and the people who loved their sunny sky are pissed
I find it incredibly hilarious that people think Sabrina had any sort of complex or well-defined personality in the games. The dialogue she's had in RBY and GSC COMBINED could fit on a post-it note. Any character you saw in her was a projection of what you wanted her to be. Your interpretations mean bupkis.
It's also worth noting that Ken Sugimori did Sabrina's redesign, the same as he does every character. The change reminds me of Misty's new look in GSC.
I am a fan of both the new and the old look of Sabrina. I understand why people are angry. The psychological reason is that people are scared of big changes no matter where the changes are (in a game , in a movie , in real life , etc.) I really think that they should have kept at least part of her old look , like the hime-cut or something else which would have resembled her old outfit. I read all the comments until now , some of them were good arguments , some of them were not that good but what I think is that EVERYBODY liked her because of her look. SO don't say "I hate guys who like her because of her new outfit" Aren't you the same people??? The GYM leaders of Pokemon games (at least the early ones like Sabrina/Natsume) were not that deep , most people just confuse them with the Sabrina they like (whether it is the one from the anime or one of the Sabrinas in the manga series)So in-game she never had an actual personality which her style could fit into. You know , she had a whip , does that mean she was a sadist who liked to beat the shit out of her Pokemon!?!?!? No. So why not just liking the old Sabrina and leaving other people to like the new one??? Why not instead of finding the diferences , we find the things that actually connect us. A lotta things about gen 4 rub me up the wrong way, starting with the frame rate..
