Now that I think about it, it is kind of rare to see that kind of family in an anime.
It's mostly a matter of economy cast (just like how all Disney families are only one parent) - if family isn't going to be a major part of the story, then you might as well compress them down to one character so you have to spend less time introducing and characterizing them.
But also to cater to spectators + plot + the fact humans prefer females
A good example is Pokemon. Since the very first game, each protag only got his mom but no dad. One part of it's idyllic vibe is from this. "Gameboy" handheld was aimed for male kids. And its known that most of them prefer the mom then the dad
Bunch of animes also only got female characters appearing despite their world not being a "men are extinct" world. (men can do some mini-cameos) K-ON! / Girls und Panzer
Correction: The player has both a mother andfather in Gen 3.
Takamachi Nanoha has a mother, father, older sister, and older brother.
To be fair, Nanoha verse comes from a eroge dating sim anyway where you played as Kyoya and everyone was supposed be a fuckable waifu anyway. Even Nanoha was loli bait. Although also to be fair, they are actually half-siblings. I can't remember if Nanoha-verse addresses the half-sibling bit in her spin off, not that the Assasination world was ever tied to Nanoha-verse anyway and Nanoha's Family doesnt play a role in her show like Triangle Hearts was.. I was always dissapointed that Nanoha didnt learn or get any sword techniques from her siblings in her show but hey, it was magical girl vs shinobi kendo shit so i guess they wanted to veer far away from Triangle Hearts.
Another anime character with a family: Hibiki Ryouga from Ranma 1/2. He has a younger sister and both parents. Shame we never see them all at one time due to his family getting lost by just turning around.
(Half joking half serious) Glasses are a item that heavily debuff the prettiness of a person/character
Sure there is the famous cliche of "wow she is beautiful behind his bangs / glasses" but it's quite true if you check some megane characters on danbooru
PS : OR by simply using a program to remove the glasses of any megane female character, it also works PS PS : Please don't say to meganeko-number-one coomers i was here
Chinatsu is cute with or without glasses you uncultured swine
The glasses thing is actually an interesting question.
Maybe not, if both mom and dad wear glasses; among me and my own siblings, those who take after my father need to wear pretty thick glasses, while those who take after my mother don't need them at all.
That said, the eye conditions that make the glasses necessary might differ between the kids.
I've recently been watching Sailor Moon and it's probably the closest thing I've seen to an anime with a normal family. I've only watched like 5 episodes so far, but the main character has both parents and a younger brother.
