The dude has been going his KC series for years, he's technically still on break as announced.
Ido, nonco and bacius are all doing an Uma work for C100. I miss their KC stuff but after doing KC work for so long it's understandable they'd want a break. And Uma really is still the hottest thing around right now, despite it losing a bit of steam lately.

Yup, something like 700 circles at C100, especially with that whole no porn or else-thing it has going on, is pretty damn impressive. That is only a bit lower than Idolmaster, comparable to Touhou, is slightly higher than what both KC and TM have, and blows stuff like Genshin Impact, Azur Lane, and Love Live out of the water effortlessly. Sure, it is nothing compared to vTubers, but by this point, nothing can compete with vTubers.

Its very admirable to see this series continue. Theres a handful of series that fell off or have been on break for a year. I never liked kantai mechanically as a game but i love the community and seeing people stick to the world even if its waned overtime is nice. I think its all a testament to staying true and sticking with shipgirls in a seemingly endless war, full of battle and times of simple joy.
I do make sure to say hi to Ido at every Comiket, and he has said that he's not going to stop doing Kantai stuff or anything - just that he did what he wanted to do with the long-form stories of the Thus Sprachen; so it's just short vignettes like this when it takes his fancy now. (I.e. you're very unlikely to get any more actual plot-comics.)

Please do tell him lotsa people are still rooting for him and his works, me included. Short series will do just fine too.

I've suspected that was the case, but I'm still saddened to get confirmation.

Hope you get to enjoy Comiket! Nasu, Wada, Chico Umino, AND ReDrop make me wish I could be there.
That's great, in some ways. I'm glad Ido is doing well professionally, and maybe... "Queen's Academy" I guess it's called will get an official translation into other languages.
It's a little sad he'll probably have a lot less time for his old projects, but since this is his first KC comic in about half a year he was basically done with this series anyways.

Thats pure speculation, from what people are saying from what they hear from him, he has said that he's not going to stop doing Kantai stuff or anything - just that he did what he wanted to do with the long-form stories of the Thus Sprachen; so it's just short vignettes like this when it takes his fancy now.
From Ido's drawing stream at 1st July, when prompted if he still intends to do Kancolle works. He said that he has been doing kancolle stuff for so long that he's stumped about what to draw anymore, he's considering if he should just do works whenever event/cute girls kanmusu comes out. There is no direct statement from him stating that he intends to stop it though.
