Yep, pretty much. A translation I've seen goes through those steps, the whole process taking the slime about 7 years to perfect her transformation. And at the end here she reveals her nature to the man... but he's already figured it out from the start because he's a monster biologist and has noticed that when she's happy she has a tendency to become translucent and her core will glow from inside. She gets so embarrassed that she can't regain her human form for a couple weeks, but after that it's "happily-ever-after".
