You know, those Japanese long vowel marks (ー) really look funny to me in English text...

I do it because spewing out more vowels (e.g., Uuuuu...) looks more "ugh" to me than inserting the ー.

You can change it if you want though. I don't really care that much.

I wasn't about to change it, but if I might recommend an alternative, I have found that the dash character (—) looks more natural in English text (it's easy to produce too, Alt+0151).

For the record, I feel the same as you about the spewing of more vowels, which is why I often just leave them out altogether. An exclamation mark does the trick most of the time. :)
