That dead guy is Atsushi "Johnny Black" Kanamoto. He's one of the members of Laughing Coffin (and a high-ranking one at that). He was known for being a massive sadist (and openly so), such as making the poisons so he and his guys can paralyze his opponents before torturing them to death, and having people he's captured fight to their deaths and him killing the last man standing. After Aincrad, he joined up the Shinkawa brothers' Death Gun so he can satisfy his bloodlust. He kills Pale Rider and Garrett. After Death Gun was foiled, he goes into hiding before resurfacing to do one last attack on Kirito and Asuna, poisoning the former (which was how Alicization started). He was soon arrested.
