I always pictured Game/cartoon/anime villians to be more freindly than the Heroes myself. The heroes would have such huge Egos and have "i'm the best" battles while the villians are out and about playing golf.

Yeah because megalomaniacal tyrants don't have massive egos

Your mileage will vary, i was going more for the "irony" approach. So rather than have the Heroes get along. The heroes bicker constantly while the villians do infact get along. Reastically speaking, yes, the villians wouldnt work together and the heroes would be more than happy to shake hands and change tactics. But I like Irony.
i can actually see those two working together and switching opponents for a fight or two, thats not to say they won't betray eachother afterwards, however

Sometimes that's exactly what they end up doing too. See Mario Golf series :p

Link fighting Aku, and Jack fighting Ganondorf, I'd love to see that.
Now that I think about it, Jack and Link are both very similar. Both are silent heroes who take their magic swords on long dangerous never ending quests to rid the world of a powerful evil.
I love the fact this is in the East meets West pool, because it's an American character with an Eastern theme and a Japanese character with a Western concept.
