Nagi Ryou (tagged as nagi_(artist) on danbooru) does the art for the light novel and Inue Shinsuke does the art for the manga which has begun serialization in Dengeki Black Maoh. The novel and manga (I think) is written by the same guy who did toaru index and railgun.
Thanks for linking to my blog. Here's more information.
The light novel is by Kamachi Kazuma, who also wrote the Toaru series. Sounds like a pretty mediocre book from the reviews and summary...
Summary of the novel from amazon.co.jp: In the end, war couldn't be extinguished. But, there was a transformation. Even in the heart of a worthless accomplice in murder who was indifferently continuing his task, there was a transformation. The massive weapon "Object". This was a weapon that changed the whole definition of war. An exchange student named Quensar, who was dispatched to the battlefield, met at the base a girl with a strange aura. The girl, named "Elite", is the pilot of "Object". The near future. This diminuitive boy had come to take on the role of standing up against the strongest weapon "Object" for the sake of the girl. This was the motive for their first meeting.
Reviews of the novel at amazon.co.jp: - [This is the best: 5/5 stars] This was a work there I was reading while clutching my stomach laughing. Even though I felt it was kind of disappointing that the princess's appearances seemed to be have less involvement with the protagonist's relationship, it made me want to keep reading to see if that was going to continue.
- [Stop worrying, this is the usual Kamachi: 4/5 stars] Even though I'm an amateur who doesn't really care about things like writing ability, I thought "Ahh, this is really by Kamachi, isn't it". Seeming like he was set to quickly start getting back into starting to write a new book, Kamachi wrote a lot of long dialogue and used a lot of alternative katakana (only "Ruby" was wasn't a part of that, which is rare), which made me think it's really alike to Index Volume 1. But in retrospect, I think this would be a good book for those who want a quick, easy read. Because of the selfish fact that I think that while this book is interesting for me, it might be boring for some other people, I'll give this 4 stars. For people who disagree, let's believe that this will get more interesting afterwards, like it did in Index Volume 3.
- [If there was a twist at the end...: 3/5 stars] It was interesting, but that's all it was. The book didn't have any original system, uniquely captivating characters, or any plot progression that would stir up your heart. This book is the definition of what a mediocre work is. But even though it's mediocre, I still read it to the end because it was interesting. I loved the representative work of this author, Toaru Majutsu no Index, and I picked this up thinking that it wouldn't hurt to try reading this. Even though this is inferior [to Index], the style and tone of this is definitely that of Kamachi's (the author). I can't recommend this to those who don't know the author at all, and as for those who are thinking of reading this after Index, I wouldn't recommend picking this up.
I did not just translate all of that, but hopefully this cures your thirst of getting more information about this book. The katakana thing in the 2nd review refers to the katakana above the kanji that, instead of giving the reading of the kanji, gives the author's intended meaning with a synonym.
