Happy Christmas From an Abandoned Mine

This used to be a lively town of machines and mining activity. These young people used to live here, and today they are back again. Using the still-working light bulbs and batteries around town, they've decorated a utility pole in the center of the town in Christmas style. It gave off a really warm light.

Not such a 'merry' Christmas after all.

Not really soul-crushingly depressing, unless I missed some orphans hiding in a corner or something.

this would've been soul crushing if there was a little boy/girl at the foot of the pole, looking up (maybe some signs of tears)

Sometimes just making the effort is all that matters.
