I can't believe it's been this long and we're still using the choppy low res Neko Miko Reimu dance gif, so I thought I'd do everyone a favour.
I post more upscales and translations of Touhou Flash animations on my YouTube channel. No AI or filters are used, these all use native Flash upscaling as if you're watching on a 4K monitor.
A lot of those old Touhou videos could stand to be re-recorded and re-uploaded. Most still look fine now in Flash, but were recorded and uploaded at like, 30fps at a shitty resolution ages ago.
Why was upscaled removed? Is there an original version of this somewhere that's this size? The uploader even stated they upscale Flash animations, does something show that isn't the case here?

I didn't remove it, but I could see why someone would do it, since Flash animations have infinite resolution, it doesn't make sense to talk about it being up or downscale. The resolution that they're displayed when converted to a video is arbitrary.

Late reply, but the older gif is at the original intended resolution, i.e. the resolution that the Flash animation first opens in. I don't feel satisfied calling it either upscaled or not upscaled to be honest.
