You are wrong sir. :D Ven, short for Ventus; is actually the one who gave Sora his keyblade. . "Powers" if you will. Sora was his successor and he chose Sora. The reason; ( In theory) that Ventus looks so much like Roxas; is because when Ventus chose Sora, they connected hearts. We all remember when Sora became a Heartless? That happened and Roxas was created, a Nobody. The Nobody was created from the memory of Sora; or the Heart of Sora.
