‘Punishing the pervert, even though he didn’t even do a thing to her’ is a trope that I haven’t seen for a long time.

Also, is her name going to be Mechanic-chan?

    For joke's sake, 'Airbags-chan'.

He didn't elevate the vehicle higher so she could fit, he did something. Even if he did not, this would be yet another spin off of "You Saw Didn't You!?".

Havent encountered these kinds of lifts apart from those hydraulic ones that can lift the vehicle high enough for the mechs to just stand or sit down on the floor but he does need to jack it higher for hte clearance

Wait, why are they even using a janky screw jack with jack stands? They should put the car on a lift.

depends on how big the operation is, if its one of those small family owned bussiness that normally just does oil changes or "add fluids". Then they probably can't afford a real lift. Basically just 1 step up of having a family member that "knows a lot about cars" do it for you.

Or use a workshop with a vehicle inspection pit (trench in the floor that you can walk down into).

Yeah, this is way more economic than a lift.

Still doesn't excuse the janky screw jack. You can get good pump jacks at Harbor Freight or whatever Japan's version is.

Two post lifts are surprisingly actually a rather cheap piece of equipment. They're very simple devices mechanically speaking basically only a handful of fairly basic moving parts and fair bit of steel. You can get trusted brand examples with the capacity to lift basic cars and SUVs for under 5,000 dollars. They're affordable enough that even hobbyist with the space often install them at home.

Basically no shop fixing cars professionally in a dedicated space wouldn't have such lifts, and while we do sometimes just jack cars to say change a tire there's pretty much no situation where we'd have the wheels off and be doing under-body work and not have it on a lift. A more 'accurate' way to do this joke would be to just use a truck or van, those often have just enough clearance to squeeze under them on a creeper and when we're just doing dump and pump oil changes we often don't rack them for that reason.

The author probably isn't a mechanic so when he thinks of a 'jack' he probably thinks the crap in a spare tire kit, but then again he apparently knew enough to draw jack stands so. *shrugs*

Though really the biggest improbability here might be that there's actually a women working as a mechanic (96% of auto-techs in the US anyway are male).

Fun fact, I worked in a shop with a woman technician. Great at her job, too.
