Take this AAM-4Kai!Currently the strongest weapon on the F-15J is the active radar homing (so-called "fire-and-forget") type 99 air-to-air missile, dubbed the AAM-4. The Japanese produced AAM-4 medium range missile is superior to the similar AIM-120 AMRAAM, used by America and European air forces, in its range, maneuverability, and cruse capabilities. The F-15J which is capable of using this missile should be able to maintain its superiority over neighboring country’s newest fighter jets (the Chinese J-10 or J-11 (Su-27), the Russian Su-27 series, and the Korean F-15K). The improved model AAM-4kai is also under development. However, a specialty control transmitter must be equipped making not all F-15J/DJ jets capable of using the AAM-4. Post J-MSIP models are able to make use it, but it is currently unknown how many jets are capable of doing so.
