The way i see it, Parsee is still Parsee. Aya isnt taking anything away from her, Parsee's main point was about her Jealousy, Her "elf ears" were only secondary. Well, Whenever i think of pointed ears, i'll still think of Parsee regardless.
from what i recall Rin had pointy ears, too. It could be ZUN can only draw them that way, as every one with visible ears have pointy ones. But none of them were human, either, so...

I don't even think Parsee officially has elfin ears. Yeah, I always thought ZUN just couldn't draw them well and the fans ran with it. Or at least they're never drawn as exaggerated as fans make them. Now it's happening again.
I kind of like them actually. I think they fit Aya well, but what I really wanted was some Hisoutensoku upgrades. Maybe later this year.
you know, now that I think of it, I always thought of Aya having pointy ears in the first place. didnt notice she was even shown with human ears in SWR until people started this uproar over the new art and i went back to look at all the official character art

Thing is Parsee was like that from the start, Aya wasn't.
Except that Lily Black is never actually mentioned in canon. She's a purely fanon invention based off the fact that Lily's dress is recolored in one of PoFV's stages.

Yeah, but ZUN retcons and changes things all the time. No one cares when he changes someone's eye color, for example. I guess this just doesn't bother me that much.

Eh, ZUN can do what he wants with his characters, and its too bad for us if we don't like it. Thing is, this will only really affect the way Aya looks in any official Touhou art. Fanartists are still free to keep her without them, which I think we'll see. I'm more than certain the artists have stronger opinions on the ears, and whether or not they want to draw the pointy ears is entirely their decision. While I don't particularly like this new look, its not going to become solid concrete among the fanart.
Meh, I actually kind of like it. It gives her a slightly more mischivious air in my opinion...which I happen to think fits exceptionally well with her personality.
