Can someone please explain to me why it matters whether it's canon or not? Because speaking as a NanoFate fan who doesn't go around verbally decapitating everyone who ever suggests an alternate pairing for either of them, I don't see what's so important about the fictional love lives of fictional people to make them worth having such massive arguments about.
