The fact that this is again Shibafu and Murakumo remains the only alien among the potatoes further pinpoints my suspicion back when Usugumo was first introduced.
Methinks the devs were tired of waiting for Ayaki to flesh out Murakumo's divisionmates, so they might have asked Shibafu to start filling the gaps. (comment #1993909)
The soft and fleeting whiteness is just so perfectly in sync with her name, my god. If I hadn't retired I would've ringed this cute potato right away much like DesDiv19 and Intrepid.

If I'm not mistaken, they hire artists in a commission-based role instead of a continuous partnership thing. Remember the artist for Suzukaze and Samidare? Afaik the artist mentioned that she was waiting for C2's side of things to contact her regarding any future work, but has not heard anything back. So it is easier to presume that Ayaki was no longer commissioned to continue doing more art for the Gumo team. Even Tenryuu, Tatsuta, and Nenohi no longer received update past their seasonal CG additions.
