I mean, as someone who goes out drinking at least every week, drinking slowly, eating food (certain ones help even more), and having plenty of water makes it much harder for the alchohol to take effect. I've gone out with friends where they'll be shitfaced and I'll be completely fine. Then again, my tolerance is also off the charts. Also, when you get home, making a cup (or two) of tea, eating some white bread, and (if you want) taking a shower helps as well. It's just important not to go to bed dehydrated. Using these methods (and thanking my tolerance) I've never been drunk once, and never had a hangover
