Man, Father Nier got shafted stateside. Seems like everyone was too in rage over him being a slightly ugly older man as opposed to a young pretty-boy that they didn't even care that he was a charismatic and downright awesome character. Don't worry big guy, we still love you.
On another note, do we tag him as nier_(character) or should he get a diffferent tag?

Thank you! Honestly if there was a choice in america to have replicant or gestalt. I would actually pick gestalt! Stories about amazing epic fathers walking through fire to save thier daughters are my favorite kind! I am sick and tired of hearing "Onii-chan help me!"

That is a Man, not a Boy, but a Man, I never though he was ugly. And Real Men care for their daughters.
I think he should be tagged Nier_(Father) and possibly change the other Nier to Nier_(Brother).

You know, I have to agree. Sure, Nier wasn't the most attractive character ever, but all this "he's a fugly old caveman" stuff seemed way unfair. In fact, I'd go far enough to say that, in some of the better-renders cutscenes like Emil going berserk at the Aeire he actually looked pretty good for mid-forties.
Still, the important thing to remember is that Father Nier is awesome, and if you mess with his little girl, he will kick your ass. Fact.
Fuck yes, this man is awesome. He deserves any award the twins can think up.
I would have liked both games stateside, honestly. Mostly because I love Gestalt, but if you think about everything, Replicant is far more fucked-up. I mean, it's a guy obsessed with his daughter's wellbeing vs. a kid obsessed with his sister to the point of... tying his hair up... *sob* [Points to whoever remembers what I mean by this.] The ending is more messed up in Replicant [it's the same in as in Gestalt, but...] and the intervening time is more fucked up if you just think about it. But I get to play as bro Nier in the DLC anyway, so I guess it's all good... for now.
Definitely going to chime in with the "Dadass is awesome." I thought it was a really, really nice (and much needed) change of pace from the all too common "Hey, you're a boy on an adventure!" trope. I don't hate it, I'm just sick to death of it and a change like this is very welcome.
Also the "caveman" thing is really harsh. Come on, now.
