I tried to translate this one, but am real confused by the first bubble on the right. This dude is saying something like "until recently I was lining up horizontal letters, Shizuka-chan." Could be slang but idk wtf that means

Yep. That statement is confusing as hell. I think it might actually be the artists meta-comment on their own text style, mashed into the scene as a joke or something.

Other than that I got nothing.

横文字(yokomoji) originally referred to horizontal writing like how English is written vs vertically written in Japanese, so that's why it was hard to translate. Now days it's usually used to mean foreign words or loan words.
